Boulder
Therapy operates under the direction of Dr. Malia Sperry.
The type of therapy Dr. Sperry practices is based on an integrative
theoretical model incorporating therapeutic techniques from
varied orientations according to individual need.
One
of the most important elements of successful therapy is a
positive and collaborative relationship between an individual
and his/her therapist. Dr. Sperry believes that the best work
is done when individuals seeking therapy feel comfortable
and work together with their therapist to come to a joint
understanding of challenges and helpful ways to work on them.
In keeping with this philosophy, Boulder Therapy strives to
help individuals find a therapist with whom they feel they
can have a good working relationship.
Dr.
Sperry has experience providing psychotherapy to individuals,
groups, students, families and couples and has special training
working with multicultural populations. She has provided treatment
in diverse settings including hospital, academic, intensive
outpatient, and private practice environments. She especially
enjoys community involvement and providing educational presentations
to support mental health efforts.
Dr.
Sperry has extensive treatment, and research experience working
with eating and body image concerns and is also the program
director of Boulder 's La Luna Center .
Dr.
Sperry obtained her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology
from Argosy University / Honolulu . She obtained her Master
of Education and Counseling Psychology from Chaminade University
and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology and Women's
Studies from The Colorado College.
